Intermodal transport refers to the fact that the transport
containers - ('swap bodies' is the correct term for intermodal) -
can be swapped from Rail to Road transport. This allows the goods
being carried to be transported the majority of the distance on
rail, and then to be taken off at a terminal to complete the last
portion of their journey on road. Norfolkline intermodal service is
a leader in Europe, running train line between Italy in the south
to Finland in the north, and also servicing UK, Netherlands,
Denmark, Sweden and Germany.
