Wyoming's State Capitol Building is located in Cheyenne, Wyoming, north of downtown Cheyenne. It houses the offices of the Governor of Wyoming, the Secretary of State, the Auditor, and the Treasurer, and the chambers of the Wyoming State Legislature.
Construction on the capitol began on September 9, 1886, before Wyoming became a state! Two small wings were completed in 1890. Due to crowded conditions, the House and Senate Chambers were added and completed in 1917. A renovation was completed in 1980 and the building was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.
The architecture of the building is renaissance revival. Sandstone for the building came from quarries in Rawlins, Wyoming and Fort Collins, Colorado.
