Please don't put any medication designed for humans on your pets without a vets permission. Animals have the same medication as us put in far lesser or greater doses and sometimes adapted, as things that wont harm us can sometimes kill them, so for specific animals certain ingredients may be removed. x

ANSWER

my cat had a horrible skin condition he was miserable and itchy all over, his fur was coming out with bits of dead skin on the end so we put hydrocortisone on the areas most affected,

HOWEVER

our cat was DYING and we had decided that his quality of life was more important at that time than what it may do to his deteriorating health and yes it helped his skin and he had a few months/weeks without that horrible uncomfortable itching until his death which was made all the more comfortable as he hadnt had to itch, scratch, cry etc

ALSO

we generally know about these kinds of things (ie health, medicines, internal problems etc) what it would affect and what they will do, the possibility's,what to look out for, how to make sure any damage is limited and minimal, and always kept our beady eyes on any changes in his health and would stop immediately if it was necessary. AND we had regular trips to the vets at the same time.

AND we only used the hydrocortisone because the medication the vet had given us previously wasnt helping him.

medicines usually come from things that already exist in all our bodies and in nature but too much of anything medicinal like this can be fatal if used wrong, but it really should be a last resort and you should always inform yourself before you do anything!(ie know what you are doing dangers, and all ive said we Didi, etc)

i always say DO NOT self medicate your pets, get them to a vet for treatment and for advice before you do do anything

that's what vets are for and they know what they are doing.
