* difficult to work with

* require additional work inputting data

* dehumanize a process that should be personal

* require continuous maintenance, information updating, and system upgrading costly

* difficult to integrate with other management information systems

  • improves record keeping
  • Improves accuracy and reduces human bias
  • Maintains anonymity of staff in evaluation/feedback giving
  • CONs
  • Can alienate staff members that need personal support
  • Reduces the need for managers to interact with staff (i.e. less face-time and increased risk of 'losing touch' with staff)
  • Subject to corruption/hacking/data losses
  • I would evaluate these based on your corporate culture, the type and size of your organization and receptiveness of the staff.
