There is a tale that an earwig will crawl into a person's ear canal, while asleep and they will lay there eggs inside your brain! That is NOT true! Even though earwigs are very freaky, creepy and weird looking, there pinchers are for a display of threat. The male earwigs have more curved pinchers, while the females have more straight pinchers. Have you ever noticed an earwig in your house? Well I have and a way too help prevent earwigs from entering your home is too make sure u keep your air conditioning down because earwigs like moist places. Also you can use insect spray, or RAID around the perimeter of your home too keep insects, such as earwigs out of your home! So to rap this up, from what I've read or learned earwigs really don't have a purpose, except for they freak me out and I hate them with a passion!!
Yes There are flying earwigs they do exist. Just go to the top of mount. diablo.
