You should bring it to the vet because that means that your guinea pig is dying. My guinea pig got very skinny and about five months later the pig died.
Yes I Had 2 female guinea pigs. Sadly one got undernourished. I went into its cage and tried to pick her up but she was very limp and would not eat or drink. I suggest that you take it to the vets ASAP !!! Feed it with its favourite food or celery, cucumber, melon skins and make sure that your see it drinking (use a syringe). Please Take Action Asap
Also, make sure that you're feeding your guinea pig special food for guinea pigs and not rabbit food. Guinea pigs cannot make their own vitamin C as rabbits can, and they can become very ill if they don't get vitamin C. Take your pig to a vet ASAP!!!
Take it to the vet. You'll also need to syringe feed them. You can get stuff called Critical Care from the Vet, which you mix with water, to syringe into their mouths. Weigh your piggy every day to make sure he's not loosing too much.
Guinea pigs are grazing animals, in the wild they would spend almost all day eating small amounts very often. If your pig is not eating then something is VERY wrong. After about 16 hours without food, the guinea pig's liver will start to break down and it may ultimately suffer organ faliure and die. It is of the utmost importance that you take a guinea pig to the vet immediately if he is off his food.
If you can feel ribs with no roundness protruding around them, and the guinea pig is acting sluggish, perhaps not eating much, maybe consider asking a pet-aficionado (eg. an employee at a pet store, a knowledgeable friend) or a vet clinic to check over your pig. A common misconception is that lettuce and celery are good for guinea pigs, when in reality, these contain too much water and may cause diarrhea (which may be leading to this skinny-ness/poor health you're hinting at). Make sure you're feeding some good-quality pellets, and that your guinea pig is getting Vitamin C everyday in extra's you give it (fruits/veg), as Guinea pigs are one of the only animals who cannot synthesize their own Vitamin C. I read that one of the most common illnesses in Guinea Pigs is scurvy. Could this be happening with your pig? Good luck!
Try putting him on a healthier diet.
The guinea pig most likely will not get sick.
The only way to get an accurate diagnosis of the problem is to visit the Vet.
it will die because bracken is posieous to animals
Actually, that's a very good question! :) Guinea pigs usually are sold with hair from a petstore, [petsmart, petco, pet extreme etc etc.] You can buy or adopt a skinny guinea pig either from the pound [SPCA, ASPCA] or from a private skinny guinea pig breeder. I'm sure that if there is no skinny guinea pig breeder in your town, there's one close by! =] Good luck on finding your hairless cavy!!!!!!!!
Energy drinks contain sugar and caffeine both of which will make your guinea pig sick or worse. Do not allow your pet to consume energy drink in any amounts.
no
its called a guinea pig dumbo
If you're looking for a guinea pig that doesn't shed, a Skinny Pig would be your best bet. They are hairless guinea pigs.
The guinea pig most likely will not get sick.
no
The Skinny Pig. Its practically bald.
Not if a guinea-pig eats it, as you have put in the question. It's okay if a guinea-pig chews a piece of fabric, because it will grind their teeth down, which is a good thing.
I would just give my guinea pig "love".
not alot
Guinea pig!
if a guinea pig eats raw or cooked potato, it will get poisoned an die
Your guinea-pig can sleep although only one of mine used to do that, but then he eventually got really skinny and had diarrhoea and died :(
