Some insects bite and carry diseases, such as mosquitoes , ticks and lice . Others bite but do not carry disease such as bedbugs. Two Spiders in the US , the brown recluse and black widow, have a deadly bite. Wasps and bees sting to protect their hives. Carpenter ants and termites destroy wooden buildings and sometimes furniture. Some insects amass in huge numbers at times and are a pest to humans, Examples are stink bugs, gnats, black flies, lady bugs and grasshoppers ( locusts). Many insects are a problem with agriculture. Most attack specific crops and can actually wipe out an entire field or eat all the fruit in an orchard. Some carry plant diseases
