All animals are made from the combination of at least two cells that then combine and multiply. Cells are, in a sense, 'alive', therefore all animals are born alive as they are made of 'living' cells and tissue. Sometimes an animal (including humans) are born 'not alive', in the sense of breathing and conscious, but are then resuscitated, so I guess you could describe them as being born not alive. This normally is caused by some sort of asphyxiation occurring just before or during birth.
