Sheep are shorn annually to remove their wool otherwise it becomes an animal welfare issue because their "behind" will get dirty causing flies to lay maggots there, which causes sickness/disease. or because as farmers say- in winter mother sheep(ewes) have their wool so they dont care about their lambs

Shearing of sheep is usually done shortly before lambing to allow lambs to more easily find the ewe's teats. Lambing is usually in late winter or early spring to take advantage of spring pastures. If ewes have been shorn in winter, they are less likely to lamb out in the cold pasture and will seek shelter inside which will also give shelter to the newborn lambs. When lambs begin to need more nourishment than milk the pastures should be green. Also wool is heavy and insulates well so is not needed to keep sheep warm in summer. I know I wouldn't want to wear a wool coat in the summer.

The sheep are sheared after winter, as this produces a thicker fleece. The fleece is there to keep the sheep warm. Post winter the fleece is removed for sale and to maintain the animals temperature and reduce over heating.

A sheep's fleece protects the sheep from the cold. Sheep naturally shed their fleeces when the weather is warm, as during summer. If sheep were sheared in winter, they could perish in the cold.

Shearing is done in the spring because the weather will get warmer. The sheep herders want money for the wool but they want the sheep not to freeze.

Why is sheep shearing done during spring?

Sheep shearing is not done in cold season because the sheep can die due to the cold without it's protective coating of hair. So it is done in summers and by the time the cold season comes, the hair grows again.

Why shearing is not done during winter season give reasons?

Sheep shearing is not done in cold season because the sheep can die due to the cold without it's protective coating of hair. So it is done in summers and by the time the cold season comes, the hair grows again.

Why is shearing of sheep done in summers?

A sheep needs the fleece to protect it from cold, wet weather, mainly in the early spring and winter. In summer, the fleece is sheared off and sold for wool. It is done in summer as the weather is usually warm, and the sheep can then be dipped to kill off any ticks that would normally be unreachable through a thick fleece. If the shearing is not done, natural shedding of the fleece will take place, but the fleece and the income from the sales of the fleece, would be lost to the farmer. Sometimes, the market for a fleece is so poor that it is not worth the bother of shearing. In which case, the sheep may be allowed to be shed their fleece naturally, then the dipping can take place.

Why shearing of wool is done only in summer?

Shearing is done when there is the least likelihood of thermal shock to an animal that has had it's insulating hair, fur, fleece removed.
