check engine shut off electronic valve on injector pump -most likely valve is stuck or fuse is blown -use a test light to check for power at the switch on the pump when key is turned on -to clean valve u need to remove the electrical wire with 8 spanner then undo solonoid valve located at the back top of the injector pump -usually a 25 or 27 mm. spanner will fit -make sure u dont loose the the poppet valve or spring and o ring when removing --when its out you can test on a 12v or 24 v depends on truck voltage - battery with live on pin and earth on frame of valve -valve should pull in when given power-
My truck did that once or twice. Both times it was because the fuse had blown that powers the brake lights. I did also find out that if you shut the truck off and turn the key on that you can get it into netrual, then you can start the truck and move it.
The other day I tossed my golf bag into the truck of my Lexus LS 430 and shut the truck. As it closed I notice my golf bag strap was looped around the latch and as the I heard the actuator pull the truck down it sounded funny. I tried to open in and the actuator would release but the truck would not open. Now the key nor the truck button so anything. The truck is closed and will not open. What should I do?
What about it.
If you are set on buying a used truck, look for one with low mileage. Also check Carfacts.com for information on the truck to make sure it has not been in an accident. You may also want to consider getting a diesel engine for your construction business.
I'm assuming this is a diesel. These engines have mechanical injection pumps and will continue to run indefinitely without "ignition being turned on" -- unlike gasoline engines which go off when power to the spark system is cut off. There is usually a grounding system connected to 'key on' which shuts off fuel to the injection pump when the key is turned fully off. I do not have wiring diagrams at hand, or immediate access to my 1999 NPR to check precisely how that is done on this truck, but I would check back to determine which component of the shutoff is dead or disabled. If there was a pre-existing issue with the truck not STARTING, particularly if there is some kind of anti-theft system acting on the fuel shutoff, and someone fixed that by disconnecting the shutoff, you may have an easier time determining where the problem is. You can always shut off the diesel engine by interrupting the flow of intake air -- I do NOT recommend you do this with your hand! -- and this should not cause any subsequent problems with restarting the engine again.

bypass key on a trooper
Sounds like a faulty btsi solenoid (brake transmission shift interlock). Key on push on the brake and listen for a click by the shifter. If no click try wiggling the shifter and pushing forward.
turn key to "on" position (not running) depress the accelerator pedal 3 times and start vehicle ......warning / light should then be off
its a electronic piece in the key push ron area in the steering collum the key rod connectes it to complete the electric curcuit circle if it cracked it will cause it to shut down and restart by itself..
most likely cause is the timing is advanced too much and isnt shutting off properly
Yes, it should come on and run for a few seconds then shut off. If it does not check the fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay.
