Put the original 97 intake W/EGR on the 99 head. On one of mine I had to keep the intake(due to the EGR) and the exhaust manifolds(Due to flange bolt pattern) ~4 bolt or 3 bolt~" with the car..... OR you can just plug it in and tuck it out of the way somewhere...it dont have to work, just pluged up.

The check engine light cannot be retrieved on a 1990 Cavalier unless a problem develops with the engine. The engine can be checked for errors, though, by using a tester that is plugged into the vehicle's computer.
No, only a problem that effects emissions will set the check engine light.
There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.

Check the fan relay for the 1996 Cavalier. Also, check the coolant sensor, one of these is most likely bad.
make sure gas cap is on all the way or missing cap ,this car must have a gas cap or computer will read [large] emissions leak or emission gas cap, hope this works!
There could be a problem with the power of common ground to the Cavalier light and sun roof. Check the fuses and wiring for the problem.
Check the fuses in your 97 Cavalier first. The dome light and the sunroof probably have a common power source.
