Yes, but it would depend on your operating system.
A PS3 has WiFi and you can put the router next to your modem. The only thing the back of a PS3 uses for the internet is for a wired connection with an ethernet cable to your router or modem instead of a WiFi connection
Unless you have a wireless modem or decide to connect wired directly to your internet modem. Routers are also necessary for connection of more than a single item to the internet. There are those individual who do unplug there computer ethernet connection and then plug in the PS3 ethernet cable to there cable modem when they want to go online with the PS3. This works fine until you purchase a router except for the extra time and that you then can not use the computer on the internet until it is reconnected
You do not connect the PS3 ethernet cable to the computer. Just as you connect an ethernet cable to your PS3 to allow it to go online your computer may also have a spot to connect the ethernet cable to allow it to go online. The way the completed system will be set up is that ethernet cables are connected to a router for both the computer and the PS3 and the router is connected to the modem to allow online access to both your computer and the PS3. If you do not have a router you will need to purchase one and until then if you have a computer with online access the computer could be connected directly to the modem which you can unplug and plug in the PS3 to the modem with an ethernet cable. Then you go to network setting on the PS3 and complete the internet connection. In order to use your computer again online you need to unplug the PS3 and Plug the computer back in.
They do not plug into a phone jack as the ethernet plug looks the same, but is larger. They should slip right in to the right connection spot and have a clip like thing that you push to remove them, just like a phone jack cable has.
plug it in and play :D
Wireless routers have spots on the back to plug in ethernet cables. Mine has one input and 4 outputs. It may work if you plug in one wireless router to your modem and then run the ethernet cable from the out of that wireless modem to the in on the other
Well usually its connection problems. I would take out the ethernet cable, blow on it then plug it back in. Or you can reset your routers.
Routers are very easy to install and use, most have plug and play setup.
Routers connect via your computer's ethernet input.

Most wireless routers also allow you to plug in 4 to 8 other Ethernet cables. It would not be a router otherwise, it would simply be a wireless access point. The cable connections are also faster than the wireless (at this point).
