There seems to be unclarity regarding whether comedienne Jo Brand and journalist John Sergeant are brother and sister. It has been discussed and joked about on various shows, such as QI. However, they are not related. Both were born in different areas of the country, have different parents, different siblings and different educations. They are friends but are notrelated.

Jo Brand once said on QI that they were brother and sister. I heard her say it, john was on the same panel and said nothing. Then again, actors often push stories for the fun of it. They do look alike and speak alike.

On QI- Series 6- Flora and Fauna,
both Jo Brand and John Sargent are on there. Stephen Fry asks them whether they are related, and Jon replies that they are brother and sister.
