Almost all are not. They are cool under pressure, calculating, cunning. This doesn't mean they are normal, they are not. Any human that can kill another human for no reason but their own twisted pleasure is not normal.
They are preditors and they must be clear-headed and alert. Most won't drink or take drugs to excess, especially right before or during the hunt and kill.
There are exceptions of course, but as a general rule these killers are not unstable. They would be caught long before the body count gets too high.

∙ 12y agoIt all depends on who you ask. Serial killers know what they are doing and that it is all bad except in rare examples. In my opinion someone that get involves in such actions have some kind of a mental disorder since normal and persons with some kind of mental disorder do not get involved in serial killing. Serial killers are exemptions of society and a minority.
