. Hopefully this information can help answer your question. As far as banks that dont use ChexSystems, it is becoming very difficult to find because of the weakened economy.
Since banks are already doing bad because of the real estate issue, they are becoming even more strict on opening accounts for people on chexsystems because it creates another risk if the person overdrafts a lot, owing the bank money. Banks dont make money off checking accounts, that is why they use chexsystems in the first place. it is also why they make you keep a minimal amount in your account.
If you are looking fro an alternative bank account i would suggest using a prepaid debit card account. There are many prepaid card companies to choose from and they all provide the same basic features of a checking account, such as: debit cards to make purchases & withdraw cash, a place to safely store your money, direct deposit, online bill pay, online account access, most prepaid card accounts are FDIC insured and some even give interest on the money you have in your account.
If you are thinking about using a prepaid card account, i would suggest AccountNow, or you can use a prepaid card comparison site like www.prepaid101.com.

I guess the service at this bank is the saving quality. They are very prompt, and as this branch isn't overwhelmingly busy, you're likely to be in and out pretty quickly. It's US Bank I have a problem with. There seems to be a fee around every corner that I wasn't aware of. I know this is typical of most banks, but that doesn't make it any less annoying.

Poor monitoring by the US of the banks lead to banks loaning money to people that were not able to pay them back. And/or interest rates went up and many were not able to pay and the US banks were not making money. Now the banks don't have as much money to loan to people and no one has money. Most banks in the world are tied into the US banks and so they have less money too. also, tony Blair and George Bush had tea with kim jong il :)
Il est tranquille (at peace), il est silencieux (doesn't make any noise)
