yes...a torn ligament is were the muscle moves away from the bone or tares it could mean surgury to stitch it back up or ti help it heel back onto the bone. this could mean months off of sport....unfortunately im experiencing that right now.
It is true! When too much force is applied to a ligament, such as in a fall, the ligaments can be stretched or torn; this injury is called a sprain-kj
A sprained ankle refers to a strain or tear in the ligaments of the ankle itself. This often occurs during exercise or play.
If you can't move it, and it's very swollen, it's probably broken. If you can move it, but it hurts every time someone touches it, or something rubs against it, its sprained.sprained is rare.... like... I didnt even know that it was possible. But Fractured, hurts like hell, and it makes ur finger turn colors
A sprain is the result of excessively stretching and tearing the ligaments reinforcing a joint. When the ligaments reinforcing a joint are excessively stretched or torn, a sprain is the result.
Due to several torn ligaments the woman lost use of her arm.
A torn ligament will effect the ankle bones negatively. An ankle bone that has its ligament torn would be considered a severe ankle sprain.
Not necessarily it depends how bad and get it x-rayed a doctor / nurse will decide on further treatment
A sprained ankle is where one of the ligaments (tissue that connects bone to bone) of the ankle is torn or partially torn due to the ankle turning or twisting too far or in a way that is not natural.
There is no difference. A sprained ankle can also be known as an ankle sprain, twisted ankle, rolled ankle, ankle ligament injury, or ankle injury. It's when one or more ligaments are torn or partially torn where they are connected to your ankle bone.
Depends how severe the sprained ankle is. If ligaments are torn and joint unstable it may require surgery
Normal anatomyThe ankle joint connects the foot with the leg. The ankle joint allows the foot to move upward and downward and in an inward and outward motion. Muscles, tendons, and ligaments surround the ankle providing the stability the ankle joint needs for walking and running.Type I ankle sprainThe most common way the ankle can be injured is by an ankle sprain. When an ankle is sprained ligaments on the ankle are either stretched, partially torn or completely torn. The most common type of sprain is an inversion injury, where the foot is rotated inward. Ankle sprains can range from mild, to moderate, and severe. Type 1 ankle sprain is a mild sprain. It occurs when the ligaments have been stretched or torn minimally.Type II ankle sprainType II ankle sprain is a moderate level of sprain. It occurs when some of the fibers of the ligaments are torn completely.Type III ankle sprainType III ankle sprain is the most severe ankle sprain. It occurs when the entire ligament is torn and there is great instability of the ankle joint.Reviewed ByReview Date: 05/01/2011Linda J.
