well, i recently got 2 region 1 dvds (im from aus) and both worked on my 2009 model PS3 and yet they both said region 1 on the cover. BUT, it doesnt mean that some dvds still wont work on it. Really, it just depends on the dvd. Some companies make region free dvds and put on the front/back cover a certain region. Try it anyway. I hope i helped! :)
PS3 do not play DVDs from other regions that are not for all regions
Not the PS1 games or the DVDs for sure
Maybe the cds and dvds are like from a different country and the ps3 came frome England so that made the ps3 think 'oh this cd/dvd is from a different region so it changed region settings PS I dont have a ps3 so dont blame me if its wrong! Maybe the games are not PS3 games.
They don't play on my 60GB PS3.
yup
There are no regions for ps3 games..? You buy a ps3 game in America, it should work on a ps3 in Britain. When it comes to bluray movies though, they are region locked. This is false because while right about the regions there are other factors and the PS3 USA games have been designed for a different television system and will not work in the UK's PAL TV System This is also why the PS3s are different for the different areas and the model numbers help to tell them apart USA model numbers end in 01 which covers North America The first North American PS3 was released there Nov 17, 2006 and the model number was CECHA01 SDTV region is NTSC Blu-ray Region is A DVD Region is 1 NTSC PS2 Region is NTSC-U/C and the PS1 Region is NTSC-US 03 is U.K. / Ireland and the first PS3 was released there on Mar 23, 2007 with model number of CECHC03. SDTV Region is PAL, Blu-ray Region is B, DVD Region is 2, PAL PS2 Region is PAL, & PS1 Region is PAL.
yes for games, no for dvds and blue rays
PS3 games are not region coded, so you can play Japanese PS3 games on a PS3 from North America or Europe. On the other hand, PS2 and PS1 games are region coded, so you can only play those games (if your PS3 has backwards compt.) on the same region PS3 model.
PlayStation 3 games do not have region lockouts. You can play PS3 games from any region on PS3 systems from any region. Regions do not matter, so you can use a PS3 from any region anywhere.
Any PS3 game will work on any PS3. The PS3 has no region coding, so it's compatible with games from any region. The only issues you will have are with PS2 and PS1 games, and DVD/BD movies. PS1/2 games and DVDs are region coded, meaning they will only play on a player from the same region. So if you have a Japanese PS3 it won't play PS2/PS1 games or DVDs from the US. This is a double edged sword though. While you won't be able to play North American PS2/1 games and DVDs, you will be able to play Japanese imported PS2/1 games and DVDs, which is pretty cool. As far as online functions and the PSN store, this will all work fine as long as you set up your account as a US account. I have a US PS3 and have both a US and Japaense PSN account. I use the JP account to download demos and other media from the JP PSN store, that aren't available in America.
Well on websites and on the PS3 box itself it says no but when sony slashed the cost of the ps3 the 40gb onwards was not region locked to save money so yes you can play region 1,3,4 games on region 2 ps3 (unless its 60gb)
Yes, PS3's are not region locked
