The above quote only concerns tantra from within the Hindu tantric tradition. Buddhist tantra has a different philosophical grounding.
This may be a little more complicated than it appears at first blush. The question is "practice" tantra.
Tantra at the level of annutara yoga, such as Guhyasamaja, Hevajra etc does not involve worshipping anybody or anything. The method of Buddhist tantra is designed to discover the true essence of mind and reality and worship strictly speaking is not relevant to this.
A tantric deity is not even really a deity or a god in the normal sense of the word but a pure generated mind figure that symbolizes archetypes in their "pure state". Really there is no ultimate conflict.
We humans find it difficult to free our mind from prejudices but if one does, there is no reason from the Buddhist point of view and I think from a broad minded Christian point of view that one could not benefit from the methods of tantra. What is more important is that one is required to have an authentic lineage and receive the practice, empowerment, explanation from an authentic master authorized to transmit the lineage.
