Yes if and when all of the necessary rules have been met by each taxpayer that is named on the 1040 income tax return. Not as a IRS dependent but as a dependent on the qualifying taxpayers income tax return that qualifies to claim the 19 as an dependent for the exemption amount on the 1040 income tax form.

For all of the rules go to the IRS gov website and use the search box for PUBLICATION 17 go to chapter 3. Personal Exemptions and Dependents

Each test is explained in chapter 3 of the publication 17 and you will also find the worksheet that you can use to determine if the support test is met.

What is the maximum standard deduction this year for a person who is not claimed as a dependent by another person?

The standard deduction for the Single filing status for a person not claimed as a dependent by another person is $5,450 for 2008 tax returns. This deduction increases to $5,700 for 2009 tax returns. This is in addition to the personal exemption amount of $3,500 for 2008 tax returns [$3,650 for 2009].

Is a claimed dependent an exemption or a deduction?

Both. A taxpayer (the person who can claim the dependent) claims exemptions for themselves and their dependents. Each exemption qualifies them for a deduction. The amount changes each year ($3,700 per exemption for 2011) and a person will multiply the number of exemptions on Form 1040 line 6 by the amount for their total deduction on Form 1040 line 42. The deduction for exemptions reduces their taxable income.

Can you take a dependent child with income of 9000.00 dollas?

Yes as long as you and the child meet all of the rules that have to met that would allow you to claim the qualifying child as a dependent exemption on your 1040 federal income tax return. The QC dependent will have to file the QC own 1040 federal income tax return and will NOT be able to claim the exemption amount of 3650 for the QC on the QC own income tax return. Be sure that the QC checks the box on the 1040 income tax return to indicate that the QC is being claimed as a dependent on another taxpayer income tax return. For all of the rules go to the IRS.gov website and use the search box for PUBLICATION 17 go to chapter 3. Personal Exemptions and Dependents Qualifying Child There are six tests that must be met for a child to be your qualifying child. The six tests are 1 Relationship 2 Age 3 Residency 4 Support 5 Joint return, and 6 Special test for qualifying child of more than one person. These tests are explained next. Why don't most people claim themselves as a dependent on tax forms?

Either they fail to read/ understand the form, OR- the person can be claimed as a dependent of another (teenager with part time job, but a dependent of his parents)

Officially: A person, other than the taxpayer or the taxpayer's spouse, for whom an exemption can be claimed. To be your dependent, a person must be your qualifying child or qualifying relative. If you have no income how are you providing over 50% of the care for your dependent? The exemption should go to the person that is providing shelter, food and clothing for the dependent.

How much money should you get if you give your baby as dependent to another person to file taxes?

$3500 is the exemption for each dependent. $1000 is the child tax credit for kids under age 17. For kids under 17 that are your dependents you qualify for both the exemption and the credit. Note: Only the person filing the child as a dependent will receive the money.

Can a non-US citizen with a social security card be claimed in income taxes?

Citizenship and social security cards are not requirements for claiming a person as exemption. The person should be living with you legally in the same household and he/she must be dependent on you and you must have provided food, shelter and other things (I believe at least half the cost of their up keep)
