Yes, certainly you could fail a drug test. Especially if it was an over the counter purchase. Such as something you would have to purchase and show ID for at the pharmacy. It will often give a false positive for methamphetamine, as will NyQuil cough and cold, Excedrin and other cold medicines. If say you took NyQuil the night before to help you get to sleep, then Sudafed to help you during the day for your cold your chances are high to fail a test, falsely.
