Catholic AnswerFirst, giving up something for Lent is entirely voluntary, there are no Church regulations about it whatsoever. Second, Sundays have never been considered a day of fast nor of abstinence. Therefore, if you give something up for Lent, and you intended the whole season of Lent, then I would think you should not have it until after the Easter Vigil. However, if you are abstaining from something, like a particular food or something, then you may certainly have it on Sunday. For more clarification check with your spiritual director or confessor. The season of Lent ends on Holy Thursday with the beginning of the evening Mass, but the following three days - the Easter Triduum are actually a more strict fast, so whatever you give up for Lent should include the Easter Triduum.

In the Catholic religion, lent officially ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. This is the beginning of the tridium.

In the Roman Catholic Church you can not have what you gave up until Easter Sunday. And on Good Friday you can't eat meat.

Well, look at it this way: Back in the 1930's and 40's, Lent officially ended at noon on Holy Saturday. When and why it was changed to Lent ending at midnight on Holy Saturday, I don't know, but over the years it changed for some reason. So, if you want to follow "the old way", Lent would wind up for you at noon tomorrow.

Because Sunday is the Lord's day and not counted in the 40 days of Lent, if you gave up something you could have it on Sunday. Saturday after Mass could count for Sunday, but that is a stretch. At any rate It kind of defeats the purpose of the giving something up , though, so try to stay with the whole Lenten season.

That depends.

There are no regulations for "giving something up for Lent". It should be something that is lawful and you otherwise enjoy. It is something that you are giving up voluntarily to please Our Blessed Lord, and to strengthen your own will. As such, you are the one making the rules up. However, keep in mind that Sunday is NEVER a day of fast or abstinence, Sunday is a day to be joyful in the Lord. Sunday, or the Lord's Day, begins on the evening of Saturday with the Vigil Mass. Lent ends late afternoon on Holy Thursday during Holy Week, and then the Eastern Triduum begins and runs until the beginning of the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night. So if you just give something up for Lent, you are technically off the hook on Thursday evening, BUT, the Triduum is an even more holy, more solemn time so you should continue your abstinence until the Easter Vigil.

AnswerSundays are not considered part of the Lenten fasting and abstaining days so, yes, you can eat what you gave up for Lent.

How do you observe Lent?

Lent starts on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter sunday. To participate in Lent in the Catholic religion, you have to fast, or give up, meat on Ash Wednesday and every Friday until Easter Sunday. Also, if you are not a small child, you have to give up something additional. You have to give up something that could harm you or be bad for anyone in some way. For example, you could give up TV or video games. i am giving up meat for the whole lent instead of just fridays. i am also going to stop gossiping because it could hurt others. Lent in Christianity means giving up dairy for the whole lent i think. Im not sure about Christianinity because i am not Christian, but i am positive for Catholicism.
