here are several innovations that have been declassified, patented, and sold. Here is a list of those innovations, all are either required or otherwise set as a standard for legitimate automotive use.
HHO dry cell - uses electrolysis to turn water to hydrogen and oxygen very efficiently.
computer failsafe system - for added safety, a computer must monitor major HHO systems (Greater than 20 lpm output)
HHO bubbler tank - combines the technologies of the original bubbler design with the solution's primary storage tank. A bubbler is a device used to clear most moisture out of the lines leading from the dry cell. A primary storage tank is the place of storage for unprocessed HHO solution to go to the dry cell.
power source - the dry cell must get power from the car to operate.
LPM meter - a device that measures how fast the dry cell is pumping out HHO.
flashback arrestor - for added safety, to prevent a major explosion, you need a flashback arrestor in the HHO line. If the end of the tube is lit, the flashback arrestor will stop the flareup and prevent the dry cell from exploding like a bomb.
Neither car is available and most likely will not be for some time, if ever. Fuel cell technology is probably closer to a reality. The major disadvantage is that they produce no fuel savings and are not a positive for our environment. Hydrogen is derived by stripping it from natural gas. The net result is that we use fossil fuel to power the fuel cell car.
it squirts hydrogen throgh a fuel cell to make electricity to power the car
It works now. The problem is not so much the level of the technology, but of the support system. If you can't "gas-up" your car, then it's just a small house.
A fuel cell car would be defined as a vehicle with an electric motor or engine that uses a fuel cell to produce electricity to power its motor with hydrogen.
hydrogen can fuel a car once the technology has been improved.
It is unlikely without large steps forward. Fuel cell technology is a strong possibilty, but it to uses fossil fuel to power the car. Hydrogen is generated by stripping it from natural gas.
Fuel injection
yes, but not directly. The nuclear power will produce electricity and/or hydrogen. The car can run by electricity and/or hydrogen (as gas, liquid, or solid metal hydride). That is not exactly true. A car could indeed run on nuclear power. The fuel cell for an aircraft carrier is about the size of a dime. Auto fuel cells could be pin sized fuel rods that could be sold separately and changed as you moved from car to car. The technology for a safe and viable method for doing this is feasible and doable. The issue would be to move away from fear based technology into one that looked for safe solutions to our energy needs. The only issue that holds back this technology would be the fear factor of individuals and fossil fuel companies.

Advantages are very low emissions. Disadvantage is rarity of hydrogen fuel stations.
