Demeter didn't force Zeus to change his mind about Hades' and Persephone's marriage.

Hades and Persephone were/are married. However Demeter was able to persuade Zeus into convincing Hades to release Persephone from the Underworld. Due to her protest in causing the earth to stop growing, stop creating life, and becoming an eternal winter. However Persephone had eaten pomegranate seeds when during her time in the Underworld, which causes Persephone to return to the Underworld for half of the year. Which causes the earth to fall back into winter again. Thus the cycles of the seasons.
