Like everybody else, he had problems and setbacks that he had to overcome. His parents divorced and his father died when he was a college student at USC. He was bankrupt twice, once because his son-in-law squandered his fortune, which caused the breakup of his daughter's marriage. He had to rebuild after each of these financial setbacks. He had a lung removed because of cancer. He had 2 divorces and a separation from his third wife.
Everyone's life has ups and downs but when asked about his life, he always said he felt very lucky and that he had a great life.
I'm amazed you had to ask. He was a son, brother, father, husband, uncle, nephew. He came from a financially restricted home to become one of the best loved and respected public figures of all time. He was a sucker for a sad story and generously helped the underdog when he could. He is one of the few people in history that spoke his mind even when it made him a target of criticism and sometimes ridicule. And he was patriotic to his last breath.
John Wayne died in 1979 so he has had no new releases in over 30 years.
After his death his oldest son Michael took over all things Wayne. Until his death in 2003 he controlled all Wayne interests and the money they made. If you stop and think, John Wayne is one of the few major stars that never had a movie made of his life. Michael Wayne declined to any and all movie deals.
Ethan Wayne had small parts in Rio Lobo and Big Jake . In the latter he portrayed "Little Jake," the son of the character played by his father, John Wayne.
There is no evidence to indicate that John Wayne was either adopted himself or attempted to adopt a child.
There is no indication that any of John Wayne's children were homosexual.
In real life no. In movies everything from marines to airmen to in one case an Admiral in (In Harm"s Way) Wayne always stood out as (JOHN WAYNE) and was light-years removed from what has become known as Method acting. He never was in the armed forces in real life, only on screen.

No. He is not related to John Wayne in any way, according to John Wayne's son. Says "We've never heard of him". He claims to be John Wayne's "great nephew". Claims have never been substantiated.

John Wayne had one full brother- Robert. http://www.facmed.unam.mx/bmnd/plm_2k8/src/prods/34188.htm
I cannot find any relation between John Wayne and Walter Dickens especially not as brothers-in-law. John Wayne had no sisters (only a brother, Robert, and none of the women Wayne married had the maiden name Dickens. They are brothers in law.
