Comparison between Lymph Vessels and Veins.
The Lymphatic collecting vessels have the same three tunics as veins, but the collecting vessels are thinner walled, have MORE internal valves than veins, and anastomose more.
Veins have fewer internal valves than lymphatic vessels.
collecting vessels
Subclavian veins
The lymphatic System- Consists of lymphatic vessels i.e. Veins and capillaries are an example. (hope this helps and I had the exact question in a worksheet and it was right good luck)
the walls of lymphatic vessels are similar to those of veins
the pulmonary artery, pulmonary veins, bronchial vessels and lymphatic vessels
collecting vessels
Lymphatics resemble veins in structure but have thinner walls and more valves.
They have valves so that they can move lymphatic fluid much the same as veins by skeletal muscle contraction.
Thickness of the walls.
The valves help counter the effect of gravity by preventing the fluid in the vessels from "falling down."
The sequence of fluid flow is blood capillaries.... interstitial space or interstitial fluid..... lymphatic capillaries.... lymphatic vessels.... lymphatic ducts..... junction of the internal jugular and subclavian veins. Then what helps this whole sequence is the skeletal muscle pump and the respiratory pump.
