I have tried black with khaki before and trust me it does NOT look good. Don't try it unless you like people snickering and pointing at you behind your back.

In my opinion, I would go with either a plain black tie or a black and blue(preferrably royal) plaid tie. Occasionally, a black based tie with royal blue stripes would work too.

Absolutely, matching your cummerbund to your tie is always important and you can't go wrong with black on black. But if you feel the neck tie is a little too long and obstructs the cumberbund you could always throw on as black bow tie, which is also a good look.
Orange and black go well with purple. However, using orange might be a bit overwhelming. To be safe, go with a black jacket and an orange tie. If that is too daring, go with black for both.
Depends. Dark blue and black can set people off of what they see of it, sometimes they think the blue is black. If its a black tie, a light blue shirt can go better if you really want blue.
