Do car rental agencies accept debit cards?
Most accept debit cards now, but keep in mind they will "hold" a certain amount from your card and that money will not be available to you until after you return. and with some banks it can take a week or so to release the additional funds.

Yes, Car Rental Companies accept Secured Credit Cards . There are two types of cards. "Secured" and "Prepaid". Prepaid cards will be accepted at rental companies (or will be… treated like a debit card). SECURE cards on the other hand are not like a credit card. The rental company has no way of knowing rather the card is secured or not. All secured cards say "debit", and have a Visa, Mastercard logo, etc. However, as with any credit card (secured or su-secured), they will take a deposit out on the card that covers the rental fee for your expected term. This will not be "charged", but "held" to your card until you return it, at such a time you can choose to authorize the payment to go through or pay the balance with a debit card, allowing the hold on the credit card to release.
Yes they do. They also accept prepaid cards, and Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc. Gift Cards.
How can a car rental company tell you are using a prepaid debit card if it has your name on it and expiration date and the visa logo and says debit on the front?
It's all done electrically via the computer system. These cc are locked out of the system and would not get cc approval. I dont really know HOW only thing I can say is its tec…hnology.
Debit cards can be used if they show either a Visa or MasterCard logo.

If the collection agency has the permission of the credit card company to act on their behalf you may be face with a law suite to acquire assets you have to satisfy the the de…bt as well as and the fees of the litigation, most cc cards have abertration clauses in them you may want to check.. It would be wise to seek a licensed general or civil attorney in your area on the laws as they do vary from state to state. I collected for a agency for 15 years as a American Express account handler. On large balances anything over 1500.00 we did go to litigation with it. What I would tell client/debtors is to make a written arrangement and send the first pay with it stated on the money order by us excepting the money order with reasonable terms it's became a binding agreement that you agree to and made in good faith (again the laws vary from state to state). Most like account resolved with in six month at the most. So that may mean for you tightening the belt on the extra to get ride of the debt.
