No, they share the same respect for each other, and more importantly, L. Mello just has a bad way of showing it, because he always lets his emotions get the better of him. Near also does because of how easy it is for him never to show emotion.

Why did Mello kidnap Takada?
Mello kidnapped Miss Takada because Near and Mello both compromised so Near would have Mello kidnap her because he new that Teru Mikami would need to kill her, confirming that Mikami was the third kira (hence the name "mikami" meaning third god) so that when Near and Light Yagami meet he would take the fake death note from Mikami (Mikami did not know the death note he had was a fake) and see that he killed Takada and that he did not write Light Yagami's name, exposing them both as kira. Near and Mello both new that this was an extremely dangerous move and that Mello would probably die, but mello went along with it anyway.

Probably no because the goal of Mello's is to defeat Near all his life, so I think Mello wouldn't give up that easily (and he is a very stubborn person), but things can change.

Death Note is not a romance. I support the pairing Matt/Mello fully, because it seems quite possible and compatible with the canon. I honestly can't see Mello dating anyone else (mention Mello/Near and I shall strangle you), and they did address each other with very familiar honorifics in the Japanese manga and anime, but there was no mention of either of them having anysort of romantic relationship with anyone. Honestly, could Matt have liked Mello? The guy was only in two episodes in the anime, and about ten panels in the manga.It's not exactly easy to tell.A question like this is left up to the fan's interpretation. It's easy to argue that Mello is gay, and fairly easy to argue that point for Matt as well. But seriously, no one's ever gonna know, unless the creator comes out and says, 'They loved each other'.
