Depending on the material of the hat, yes. If the hat is wool, it may be "Dry Clean Only." If there is a leather band inside the hat, then it should not be dry cleaned, but leather cleaned instead, as dry cleaning may cause the leather to crack or break.
Yes, some places do. Look online for additional information.
You should not wash a felt hat. You can clean it with a brush, a damp sponge, or get it dry cleaned.
Use a clean dry cotton towel as backing and then apply a hand held steam cleaning wand to the brim. The stain (salt, oils, etc.) should be easily loosened and transfer to the absorbant towel. If that doesn't work, buy a new hat.
While there are products on the market that claim to be able to clean your dry clean only clothes in your home dryer, this is not really dry cleaning. Due to the chemicals involved in dry cleaning, it is not possible to get a good clean without going to the dry cleaners. The chemicals are closely monitored by various environmental organizations and very expensive, so these "over-the-counter" dry clean products cannot work as well as dry cleaning.

You should dry clean your suit everytime your going to use it , or if you rarely use it, dry clean it every six months.
If a test tube is clean and dry, then there should be nothing in it.
The best way I have figured out to do it is: Run hot water from a faucet onto the hat. Use some resolve along with it. Then you scrub the hat with a hard bristlebrush. Not to hard though. Then you rinse it and let it dry in the sunlight. Make sure that it is not creased or it will stay that way. This method works for me. Good luck I hope it works for you.
My suggestion is to have it dry cleaned instead. Soak it in a mixture white vinegar and water to set the color. Then, place in a plastic hat form and put it on the top shelf of the dishwasher. Use dishwasher soap, not laundry soap. Your hat should come out clean.
Wash it by hand; machine washing would destroy the shape of the hat. If its a Top Hat many dry cleaners specialise in cleaning them. There is a plastic hat form that you can buy for the regular brimmed hat. You place the hat in that and then on the top shelf of your dishwasher. Use regular dishwasher soap--not laundry soap. It should keep its shape and color.
