Reno's Funmakers was a traveling live repertoire theater featuring vaudeville, stage plays and the magic act of Edward Austin Reno. They performed under the big top tent and visited towns in the rural south during the Great Depression. Like many shows featuring similar entertainment, they shut down once World War 2 began. They took up residence in Kankakee, Il (home of their patriarch, Edward Reno the Great, a pioneer in the field of illusion and magic) and planned to return to the road once the war was over. The war lasted longer than originally thought and the Funmaker family never returned. A book entitled Reno's Funmakers gives a short history of the family during the 1930's. Available at Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
