Not at all. I know plenty of people who had no fitness background at all, and if you start off slow, and I mean SLOW, no more than about 15 to 20 minutes initially when you start, you should be OK. I started back up swimming after almost a year off due to a bad injury. Within a few weeks, I was back up to swimming around 70-90 minutes a day. You build up quick, but also remember you're burning a ton of calories and your muscles will get tired, and you'll feel the brunt of it the next day if you don't go slow. Hope that helps :)
