Best Answer

My best bet would be to heat the test tube to help evaporate the left over water. If for some reason it is a solid, that flush it out with water, then do the first step.

The easiest way of drying test tubes would just be by turning it upside down in a test tube holder. Make sure you flush it out with distilled water though to get rid of any residues.

It depends on what you are going to do. It's best to ask your instructor.

Why should you not use your test tube racks when washing and drying test tube?

Test tube racks are not sterile! Infact they are quite often some of the most contaminated lab tool. Therefore by using test tube racks to dry test tubes, you WILL contaminate your glassware, which will therefore corrupt any experimental data gathered with them. This is especially so in the areas of chemistry known as stochiometry and any prac in which temperature is an uncontrolled variable.
