Almost every surgery will cause some level discomfort. Your surgeon can explain an average expected intensity and duration of the discomfort, give you pain medication, and some other advice to help control the discomfort.

I had a circ done last year and it hurt like hell for a long time afterwards,I had a couple of complications and it has left me with strictures and an overactive bladder,I now have to catheterise everyday to stop the strictures/scar tissue from narrowing my urethra,I also have to take oxybutinin to calm my angry bladder down, the OAD is not caused by the caths as I had it before the need to cath. For some people they have no problems I had many.I was 32 when I had mine done due to phimosis (Scaring and tightening of the foreskin, that too was very painful) The surgeon who did my circ did it free hand and cut it jagedly, its longer on one side and tight on the other,he also used a hemostat on a vein on the top of my penis and caused necrosis of the clamped area,I was left with a 1.5x1cm deep hole in the top of my penis,he cut the frenulum and stitched it back together tight,it was very painful and the stitches tore through. It took about 7 months to heal and is a right mess now.

Only have a circ done if it is TRULY necessary!
