Liquefaction is a process that occurs within soils that are poorly drained and contain pore water when seismic waves pass through them. Therefore in the soil minerals will be present.

This phenomenon tends to occur in course grained soils such as poorly compacted sands. As such it is likely that mienrals such as quaertz and feldspars may be present although the mineralogy of the soil is the no the controlling factor in the case of liquefaction, it is instead the depositional environment (which controls grain size) and the degree of overburden load (which will control compaction).

What do you mean by liquefaction. Discuss different ways by which liquefaction of gases can be achieved?

Liquefaction is the process of liquefying or making liquid.(as told by dictionary.) Liquefaction is the process where soil loses strength and acts like a liquid instead of a solid. The modern methods of cooling the gas to or below their Tc and hence of liquefaction of gases are done by Linde's method and Claude's method.

How can homes and other structers be protected from liquefaction?

Homes and other structures can be protected from liquefaction by being anchored to a rock below the soil. Liquefaction happens when structures are built on soft ground.
