One simile in the poem "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe is, "Suddenly there came a tapping, As of someone gently rapping" (lines 3-4). That is a simile using the word "as" to compare tapping and gentle rapping! Hope this helps!

One example of a simile in the poem 'The Raven' is "Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling". This compares the effect of the raven's presence on the speaker to the act of beguiling or enchanting, using the word 'like' or 'as'.

In lines 38-40: Poe mentions that the Raven has a "mien of lord or lady" a metaphor for the bird acting like a lord or lady.

In line 85: the bird is referred to as a "prophet" or a "devil"

In the last stanza of the poem the bird is referred to as a "demon." Most of these metaphors are used almost like a metaphor for what a wreck the narrator is. He's gone mad over his "lost Lenore."

When the night is referred to as a shore, it seems to be a metaphor for the night as a sort of ocean.
