Beta radiation isn't used for cancer inside the body because it doesn't have the penetrative ability of Gamma radiation. Gamma cannot be used for skin cancer because it would kill too many healthy cells.

What is internal radiation?

In internal radiation therapy a source of radioactivity is surgically placed inside the body near the cancer

What type of cancer treatment uses X-rays to kill destroy or shrink cancer cells?

The type of cancer treatment that uses X-rays to kill, destroy, or shrink cancer cells is called radiation therapy, also known as radiotherapy. In radiation therapy, high-energy X-rays are directed at the cancerous tumor or affected area to damage the DNA of cancer cells, preventing them from growing and dividing. Radiation therapy can be delivered externally or internally: External beam radiation therapy (EBRT): This involves directing radiation from outside the body toward the tumor. It is a non-invasive procedure and is one of the most common forms of radiation therapy. Internal radiation therapy (brachytherapy): In this approach, radioactive material is placed directly inside or near the tumor site. This allows for a higher dose of radiation to be delivered to the cancerous cells while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissues. Radiation therapy can be used as a primary treatment for cancer, as part of a multimodal treatment approach (such as in combination with surgery and/or chemotherapy), or to alleviate symptoms in advanced or metastatic cancer. The goal of radiation therapy is to destroy cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. Treatment planning is highly individualized, taking into account factors such as the type and stage of cancer, the location and size of the tumor, and the overall health of the patient.

Why is alpha radiation so deadly to humans?

It is only deadly if ingested. The skin will stop alpha radiation. It does not have much penetrating power. When inside the body it can cause cellular damage which can lead to cancer.

Can doctors use radiation to treat illnesses?

Yes, there are several diseases that are treated with radiation, including some types of cancer. Radiation is also used in many diagnostic imaging machines, so that we can see inside the body without having to cut into it.

Will the radiation from Japan reach Taiwan If so what can I do to protect myself And if I do get exposed what will happen to me?

If the radiation from Japan reached Taiwan, the radiation problem would have to be very bad. If it did reach you, you should stay inside and keep the windows shut. Even if the radiation got through all that, you would get cancer.

Can gamma radiation kill cervical cancer?

Yes, gamma radiation can be used as a treatment for cervical cancer. Gamma radiation is a type of ionizing radiation that is commonly used in cancer treatment, including cervical cancer. The treatment approach that uses radiation to target and destroy cancer cells is known as radiation therapy or radiotherapy. In the context of cervical cancer, radiation therapy can be delivered externally or internally: External Beam Radiation: This involves directing a focused beam of gamma radiation from outside the body towards the cancerous tissue in the cervix. The goal is to target and destroy the cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. External beam radiation is typically delivered over a series of sessions. Brachytherapy (Internal Radiation): Brachytherapy involves placing a radiation source directly inside or very close to the cervix. This allows for a higher dose of radiation to be delivered directly to the cancerous tissue. Gamma radiation sources such as iridium-192 are commonly used in brachytherapy for cervical cancer. The use of gamma radiation in cervical cancer treatment aims to damage the DNA within cancer cells, preventing their ability to divide and grow. Radiation therapy can be used as a primary treatment for early-stage cervical cancer or as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that may also include surgery, chemotherapy, or a combination of these approaches. It's important to note that the use of radiation therapy is determined on an individual basis, considering factors such as the stage of cancer, the patient's overall health, and the potential risks and benefits of treatment. Medical professionals, including radiation oncologists, will work with patients to develop a personalized treatment plan that best suits their specific condition and needs.

How does electromagnetic energy use in the field of medicine?

X-Rays are a type of electromagnetic waves. and they play an important role in dentistry and orthopedic investigation. Many individuals undergo an X-ray to allow medical professionals to gain a better idea of what is going on inside someone so appropriate treatment can be prescribed and provided. We also see gamma radiation, a higher energy form of electromagnetic radiation, used in treating some types of cancer. When we hear that someone has undergone "radiation therapy" in an attempt to stop or control cancer, the gamma ray source is often what is being referred to. Other types of radiation can be used, but gamma ray treatments are still common.

What happens inside the object during blackbody radiation?

Is it convection conduction or radiation when the inside of the car heats in the sun?

It is radiation. Sunlight enters the car and heats up material inside.

Where can you get cancer?

There are three main ways to get cancer all pertaining to a genetic degree of variance inside you DNA. By virus, By Chemical carcinogens (like in some south American nuts) and in Ionizing radiation such as an x-ray, plane trip, sun, your computer screen..

Does the amount of radiation you give off depend on what is inside of you?

Yes. Radiation is emanated from radioactive material, so the amount of radiation that someone "gives off" is a function of how much radioactive material they have inside them.
