Yes there are many types of makeup artists. Some do makeup for people who are in a wedding and some do it for professional actors. I hope that helped! :) ~Marigold

That's a good question. Day rates for makeup artists do vary depending on the venue, but a good approximation would be any where from 8-12 thousand dollars an hour. When you pro rate this amount for a 30min. job, it comes out to somewhere around 9 billion dollars a year. So it would probably be a good idea to drop out of school and move to New York to be a glorified barber. In response to the above answer which is not totally incorrect but slightly, the day rates for MUAs do vary depending on the project however it also depends on your experience and skill. A good MUA with years of experience will make more per day than one who is just starting out in the business. In fact, most MUAs work for free for a couple of years while building their portfolios and some continue to do this throughout their career. Calling an MUA a glorified barber is also inaccurate because MUAs have nothing to do with hair styling even though some have gone to cosmetology school and have learned the craft of hairstyling/cutting. Makeup artistry is not what people think. There is science behind it. An MUA must also have analytical skills and intuition. Most MUAs study color theory and some even biology. There is a chemistry to it. Have a "barber" pick up some latex and an airbrush gun to turn a beautiful women into an old hag. There is continuous training involved as new products and techniques come out. And all of this, the training and product that the MUA uses for the project is paid for BY the MUA. And all of this is not cheap and must be replenished or apparently we would go out of business.
You would have to be trained and maybe going too a cosmotogly school
to be a vet u need 850 points, a docter 975 and a mcdonalds person needs 2 !!!!!!!!
Firstly undertake formal training in hair and beauty.
Gain experience in the the industry, build a portfolio of models who you have made up showing before and after. Send to theatres, film studies, modeling agencies and some of the " in places" where celebs have been known to have their make-up done and don't give up
In some places yes, but in others no. In my opinion yes you would need one.
Makeup is designed for everyone (yes even guys). It was created to enhance your features.
I hope that helps!
Not really. It depends on wear you work. Most makeup artist wear all black but its not a "uniform."
English, Drama, Maths, Music, Geography, art and design, PE and Physics all at grade A, and experience with monkeys
Laura Geller is a very famous make-up artist. She also has her very own line of make-up that is available in finer department stores across the United States..
Some of the top schools to study the field of makeup-artistry are Complections International, The Studio Makeup Academy, Blanche Macdonald Centre for Applied Design, Joe Blasko Make-up Schools and Empire Academy of Makeup.
Somewhere between not enough to live on and hundreds of thousands a month, depending on what kind of makeup you do...if you create monsters in $200 million movies you are not in the same income strata as someone who styles five-year-olds for pageants or who works the Clinique counter at Macy's.
