All chemicals have positive and negative outcomes, depending on how they are used. Most chemicals have at least one beneficial outcome.

Some examples:

Bleach is a very powerful cleaner and whitener. Ammonia is also one of the oldest and most powerful household cleaner. Used separately, each have their purposes and benefits. HOWEVER, bleach and ammonia can produce a *deadly* type of fumes if used together.

Hair dyes are chemicals that women (and men) enjoy using to change their appearance. Dyes can cover gray hair, too. However, hair dyes can cause extreme problems if a person is allergic to the chemicals. The scalp can be burned, leading to chronic irritation and scabbing. Hair loss and thinning can ensue. Yet, millions of people try dyes, love it, and have no problems.

Laundry detergents and additives are good examples of the benefits of chemicals. A concentrated washing agent can remove stains, protect colors, whiten whites, and prolong the wear-ability of clothing. Yet, every year, poison control and ERs deal with issues of children digesting laundry detergents. They can damage eyesight, burn the digestive tract from mouth to stomach, and can cause contact dermatitis of the skin.
