Microwaves are used in communications because of their shorter wavelength and smaller antennae. This allows them to be more directional than lower frequency radio waves. The Microwave spectrum also has more bandwidth than the radio spectrum. They also waste less energy than Radio Waves

The radio waves(this is what i think) are so intense that is cooks the food/whatever's in it.that's why you NEVER put metal in the microwave or it will break. This would happen because the metal reflects the waves back to the microwave, the waves are so intense that the microwave gets broken.

Radio waves being electromagnetic does not need any material medium to get transferred. With high frequency known to be carrier wave this is able to reach far distance. But this carrier wave is to carry the signal to be communicated. The signal may be audio or video or any other digital. This would modulate the carrier wave by changing any of the characteristic of the carrier wave namely amplitude, frequency or phase.

The modulated carrier wave as it gets transmitted will be received at a far place and demodulated or the signal is detected right from it. This is how radio waves now a days known as micro waves are so helpful in communication systems.

High enough frequency to carry the information, long enough wavelength to penetrate the atmosphere. They do not rapidly disperse in the atmosphere so the power does not need to be very high to reach a distant point. They can be focused by a suitable dish to increase the reception of low power signals. They can be modulated to carry the signal and are resistant to interference.

The thing about radio waves is: They don't need wires, pipes, or fibers to travel

through, so you don't need to dig trenches or put up poles all along the way.

We know how to get the information off of them even after they travel hundreds,

thousands, or even millions of miles, and they're pretty easy and cheap to make.

What is microwave satellite communication?

It is communication with a satellite orbiting the planet using microwaves, a type of electromagnetic wave of lower frequency than light but higher frequency than radio waves. Microwaves are often used in this way as they can penetrate the earth's atmosphere, but can travel a long enough distance to reach the satellites, unlike x ray waves.

What are microwave communication?

mobile phones and telephones use microwaves. As do televisions.

What is microwave and satellite communication?

AnswerThe term microwave is associated to electromagnetic waves of frequency of the order of MHz .Since the energy carried by the wave is directly proportional to their frequency they are of great use in distance communication. For a simple microwave communication system, a radiator ,a reflector and one receiver antenna are essential. As the wave penetrates through the atmosphere a satellite reflector is usually used. Satellites use Microwaves to send signals.

Microwaves
