Rice absorbs water and very minuscule amounts of moister that is left in your iPod or touch. You must leave this iPod in either a jar of rice or a container of rice that fully encloses the surroundings of the iPod. It must be left for more that 24 hours for it to work (In the Jar or container) It usually takes up to 24hours to a week to absolutely absorb all moister, so basically the rice absorbs 100% of the moister. If left in for the appropriate time.

What must one do when an iPod is damaged by water?

When an iPod is damaged by water, one should first start by attempting to remove the iPod from water. The person should next attempt to dry off as much water from the outside of the iPod. Next, one should attempt to dry water that is inside iPod with hair dryer or with a heat-source. If these steps do not save the iPod from permanent water damage, one should bring the iPod to an Apple store and ask for help. If the Apple store tells you that the iPod needs to have a part replaced you can let them fix it or bring it to a local repair shop.
