he went against the stamp act in 1765 and he funded the sons of liberty. and in 1774 he was the first president of the second continetal congress which led to the decleration of continental in which he was the first signer of it so the decleration was a document that set made america what it is today so without him he would not not have been the first signer of the declaration of Independence
