Look at a map- the Spanish missionaries founded practically all the major cities in the Golden State. the KIng"s Highway ran from San Francisco ( founded by Franciscan Father Juniperro Serra) all the way upstate to what is now L.A. note the many city names honoring saints- Santa Monica, San Rafael, San Luis Opisbo ( St. Louis, the Bishop,) and so on. The Missions also affected a certain architectural and cultural style- Mission architecture later adopted by the ATSF- shorn of religious angles- one mignt note Santa Fe means Holy Faith and the trademark is cruciform. So look at the map, and I add, don"t blame Seismic activity entirely on St. Gabriel. ( why can"t he practice his Alto Horn, say in the Phantom Zone)- The San Gabriel fault is one of the shaky parts of the state.- oh, and San Bernardino ( little St. Bernard) may be the inspiration for (Dogpatch) it has a Railroad Tunnel- , well St. Bernard is a dog- path is slang for a tunnel portal... oh well, Keep the faith.

Where was the first rodeo in the nation was held?

I am taking a guess here, but it is based on CA history. Here in CA we have a long history of Spanish influence, missions, and colonies. My guess is that the first rodeo was held here in CA in the 1700's and it was probably in/around one of the missions. Again, this is a guess based on knowing the history.
