I think this was correct... i know the right answer it is so they can cummnicate with others and it help historiians todays to know what was going on a long time ago ----------------------------- Well, for what it may be worth to you now, what we call hieroglyphics vis-a-vis the ancient Egyptians, was their sacred/mystical/magical writing; a liner script was commonly used later on for mundane communication. The word comes from the Greek, meaning to write on (specifically, carve into) stone. It's doubtful that many ordinary folks then could read/write this way of communication, but the affect/effect of its metaphysical sense would have been felt nonetheless. If you're curious to get into the mind of the ancient Egyptians & so deeper understand their hieroglyphic way communication, I suggest you read: "Symbol & the Symbolic", "Esoterism & Symbol" & "The Temple in Man" by Rene A. Schwaller de Lubicz ... I have sum more information. By the Way, I'm Kate. Okay, Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphics to write. Heiroglyphics are just pictures that symbolised words. Only a Scribe would learn how to read and write, because hieroglyphics were really hard to learn.
-Hieroglyphs was the official written language of the Egyptians. Most people couldn't read it, only the rich and educated could, so normal people would not have as much access to information.-That meant that the normal people wouldn't know if the pharaoh was lying about the total amount of food that was in the country or not. It also ensured that the Pharaohs tomb designers was not some random peasant, but someone of high social class.- At first, it not even the Pharaohs and nobles could read it, because it was so complex. During the Middle Kingdom, though, things started to improve, because the Hieroglyphs were simplified.- Before Hieroglyphics was cracked, barely anyone knew a thing about Egypt's Pharaohs, traditions, religion, common life, and history. Every time a new temple or tomb is found, more can be learned about Egypt because of the hieroglyphics that are inscribed on the wall.- There were actually three kinds of writing in ancient Egypt, the others being Demotic and Hieratic. Demotic was most commonly used because it was simple, so most facts about common people are found from demotic text, and archaeological evidence.
The development of hieroglyphics affect ancient Egypt because now the Egyptians would have a new way of keeping records about what happened and they would not have to remember it by word of mouth.
