South Korea's living standard surpassed its counterpart in the North in the 1980's and has grown exceptionally since the Korean War ended in the 1950's. It is considered a developed country with one of the highest living standards in Asia and the 26th highest in the world.

3/4 of the land is rural and 1/4 is urban.
