World War 2 effected woman in many ways varying on location such as:
-Women got to work outside the house for the first time. Many women worked in factories to help out in the war effort.
-African American woman helped out in the war effort too, but African Americans were segregated from the Whites.
-Japanese American woman were locked away in internment camps.
Both women and African-Americans participated in World War I. Women fulfilled the traditional auxillary roles as nurses as well as taking over many men's jobs in factories making munitions and other needed materials used in the war. African-Americans served in segregated units with the US Army. After some prodding by leaders like WEB DuBois to convince the military to use them for more than just labor details, units served with distinction as combat troops in France.
There were too many jobs and not enough people who were employed to cover them. We needed people to build supplies for our army. The biggest help were African Americans and women being allowed to work in factories. The men couldn't support their family while serving for our country so women took the on the role considered to be the role of a man, working.
Women entered the work force in incrediable numbers and filled jobs originally held by men. They showed in a real and unquestionable way the power and physical resources they had. They show their learning and creative abilities as well. After the war this caused much unrest when women were suddenly expected to return to being homemakes and baby tenders. Much of the strength they had almost forced upon them during the war was not going to be taken away just as quickly. African Americans underwent a somewhat similiar change. Bias and bigotry were much, much harder to overcome, but black men and women found vast resources of selfworth and power they had not had a chance to appreciate and display. There was still ( even to this day ) much racism to overcome, but it was an all important start that showed heroism, valor, knowledge and strength was not the realm of whites only.
It ended economic opportunities for women.
