Answer . You can remove the starter from the front of the engine. It is relatively simple versus other cars. It is located right in the middle of the engine in the front an…d is easier to remove from the top of engine versus from underneath. Just make sure to first disconnect the battery and to make sure the wire are replaced in the same way and place. Good luck...Rob
When removing the water pump on a 97 Sebring V6 which way does it turn and how much torque should you use?
Answer . \nTurn the bolt counter clockwise, if possible use an impact wrench to loosen the bolt. Other wise just use the largest rachet you can get. if possible get a pip…e and use it as a pull handle by putting it on the ratchet handle.
Answer . \nIn mine I just removed the actual lighter and set it aside. Then, reach your hand behind the whole thing where the wires connect and disconnect them. There shou…ld be 2 of them connected to the lighter and they should both just pull off (there is also a third wire for a light under there- leave that one there). The amp wire was a bit harder to disconnect but it just pulls straight off so don't worry about breaking it. Once the wires are disconnected hold the back of the lighter steady while you use a finger to apply pressure inside the lighter and turn to the left. It should just unscrew and you'll have a piece of it in each hand. Hope I explained it ok. Good luck.
How do you remove a 4.3 vortec engine from a 97 Chevy Cheyenne 4x4 without removing the transmission?
Answer . \nREmove and mark with masking tape all hoses and wires and linkage that connects to the engine. Mark where it came from on the engine with an identical marking f…or ease of reinstallation.\nYou will need to remove the bolts that hols the transmission to the engine and under the flexplate cover remove the bolts that hold the torque converter or clutch to the flexplate. Remove the engine mount bolts. The engine should be ready for removel, but be sure the tranny is supported somehow so it does not fall.

The rear bumper cover is fastened to the car in exactly 9 places. Follow this procedure: . Raise the trunk lid . Remove the three push-in fasteners in the center of the to…p of the bumper, directly underneath where the license plate holder would be when the trunk lid is closed . Jack up the car and remove the driver's rear wheel
The "governor" on this car isn't a part that can be removed. The vehicle's ECM is programmed to cut the fuel supply once the vehicle reaches a pre-determined speed. For my 200…5 Sebring, that speed is set at 190 km/hr. In theory, it is possible to reprogram the ECM, and there are companies that offer power programmers for certain higher performance vehicles, such as a Magnum, or 300. However, to the best of my knowledge, no programmers are available for the Sebring. You'd have to be a programming genius, and rather stupid, at the same time, to attempt any kind of modification to your ECM on your own.
It is a timing chain, and no, you can replace it in the car.
Mark all of the spark plug wires with their respective cylinder numbers. Remove spark plug wires from distributor. Remove 2 screws that retain distributor cap. Using a paint m…arker, mark the location of the rotor with respect to the distributor housing. Remove the 2 distributor hold down bolts. Pull distributor from engine. Install new distributor in reverse order, being sure to insert the new distributor with the rotor in the same orientation as the one that you took out.
Why after driving a 97 Sebring for thirty miles shutting the engine off for fifteen minutes and restarting when you have to stop soon after the engine will idle rough and stall when accelerating?
I will answer this question myself. First I changed out the o2 sensor because I needed one. (code) Next I changed out the MAP sensor. (code) End of problem.
The engine and transmission are both removed out the bottom.
You turn it counter clockwise to loosen.
The rear main is accessed by removing the trans and flywheel. There is no need to remove the oil pan.
