It enables by how when there is low on food etc they eventually start to have problems for fighting over food and it could help when they find other water , food resources to eat but until then they will fight over food water etc,,,,,,.

Competition is the essence of natural selection in that it's the manner by which the "bad" genes, or the genes that are wanted or aren't useful in the society, are taken out of the gene pool. After all, in the wild, competition usually means whether you or Joe gets to eat tonight or whether you or Jane gets to live. Once you die, you no longer can reproduce and pass on your genes.
