Clown fish live and breed in colonies of sea anemone. They are the only fish immune to the poison of the sea anemone, and this keep them safe. The female lays her eggs in rows on rocks that are protected by the arms of the anemone and the male deposits his sperm on the eggs immediately afterward. It is then the male's job to take care of the eggs until they hatch. If he doesn't do his job to the female's satisfaction, she may force her original mate to find a new home and choose a new mate from the younger generation of males who also live in the anemone colony, who will be more diligent in his protection of the eggs.

Blowfish reproduce in the warmer months of the year, usually late spring early summer. The females will swim to the bottom of body of water they occupy and release a large amount of buoyant eggs. As the eggs float to the top of the water, male blowfish will release their sperm, hoping that some of it will fertilize the eggs. That is the basic gist of how blowfish reproduce.

A puffa fish (or blow fish) inflates when it feels threatened by an opponent or predator. This 'puffing' action is commonly caused by an un-easy feeling often like what humans call 'passing wind'. In other words, when they blow up, they fart.

Puffa fish have glands inside their anatomy that fill with air as a defence system towards anything they may feel as a threat. However sometimes these glands over act leaving the fish blown up just because it is passing 'wind' or gas.

Acid in the body is carried to these glands by red blood cells and is merged with the hydrogen atoms carried through the body. When this acid reacts with a chemical inside the gland it sends a chemical flowing rapidly through the body, causing the fish to inflate.

Butterflyfish reproduce sexually; like many fish, they spawn and the eggs are fertilized externally. In at least some species, if not all, pairs mate for a few years to life.
