The Cold War was not "cold" per say, but was simply the name of a war that took place.
Nothing hot, yogurt, juices, ensure, thin soups (no chucks, cream of wheat or oatmeal).
Nothing Dairy or any sugar products that will conduct mucus. Stick to hot soups, liquids that consist of vitamin C.
Depending on what whipped cream you're talking about. Dairy / Non-dairy Sweet whipped cream (Non-dairy) aren't very appetizing for hot soups - Worse still, cold ones. Dairy ones are more widely used, as they are poured in at the few last steps of cooking a creamy soup.

Not all cold desserts call for cream. However, cream is very delicious, being the sweetest part of the milk. This is why it's also called for in many hot dishes, too. If you do not wish to use cream, you can substitute, although it's your loss.
