If you remember the bank you used in 2004, you're already one step ahead! If not, you will have to call each bank that you think you likely used in 2004, and ask them to search for records connected to your social security number. Tell them specifically that you need records for 2004. Some banks, like Chase and Washington Mutual, go as far back as 2000. Most banks keep records of up to 5 years. They may not have a copy of your canceled check, but they will have a processing number that goes with that check. Hope this helps!
